The DDC Emerging Choreographers Program is a two-term specialty program for dancers who are ready to explore choreography, creativity and performance at a deeper level.

​

Across Term 2 and Term 3, dancers will work with their teachers to create, develop and refine their own solo, learning how choreographers shape movement, music and storytelling into meaningful dance.

​

This program is designed for dancers who want to take the next step beyond regular classes and explore choreography, creativity and performance in a focused studio environment.​​

What dancers will learn

​

Throughout the program, dancers will explore:

​

• Choreographic composition – how to structure a dance and develop movement ideas
• Musicality – responding thoughtfully to rhythm, phrasing and dynamics
• Storytelling through movement – creating dances with intention, meaning and emotional depth
• Performance quality – stage presence, projection and confidence
• Creative process – learning how choreographers develop, refine and polish a piece of work

 

Classes will include creative prompts, choreographic tasks and individual mentoring as dancers and teachers shape their solo piece over time.

Performance Outcome

The program will culminate in a culminates in an exclusive Solo Showcase Evening:

​

Friday 19 September
Week 9, Term 3

​

Dancers will present their completed solos for family and friends in an intimate studio performance.​

Competition Pathway (Optional)

​

For dancers who are interested, DDC Solo Lab may open opportunities to represent Denmark Dance Company in regional and metropolitan dance competitions.

​

Students who develop a solo through this program may be invited to present their work at selected eisteddfods or competitions, including possible events in the South West or Perth.

​

Participation in competitions is completely optional and will be discussed with dancers and families based on readiness and interest.

 

Please note: competition entry fees, travel and accommodation are the responsibility of the dancer’s family. DDC will assist with competition entry.

Age: 12+
Capacity: Limited to 10 dancers
Day: Saturdays
Time: 10:00–11:00am

Teachers: Miss Milly (Term 2) + Miss Milly & Jordine (Term 3)
Location: DDC Studios

Program commitment: Term 2 and Term 3 (to allow time for choreography development and performance preparation)

Fee:
$230 per term

​

Across Terms 2 and 3, dancers will develop their solos with guidance from Miss Milly and Jordine.

How to Enrol

​

Places in DDC Solo Lab are limited to 10 dancers to ensure each student receives individual mentoring and choreographic support.
